About This Product

Josh's Frogs Springtail Culture Kit contains everything you need to successfully culture your very own springtails (Collembola)!

Springtails are a great food for those reptiles and amphibians that require very small feeders. Springtails also serve as tank janitors, eating waste and mold while also digging tunnels to increase oxygen flow, helping to keep a naturalistic vivarium clean.

Grow your own food with the Josh's Frogs Springtail Culture Kit!

The Josh's Frogs Springtail Culture Kit includes:

1. Josh's Frogs Tap Water Dechlorinator

Josh's Frogs recommends using purified water, such as distilled or reverse osmosis water, with your springtail cultures. If this is not possible, use Josh's Frogs Water Conditioner to treat your tap water.

2. Josh's Frogs Spring to Life Springtail Food

Josh's Frogs Spring to Life is an all-natural and easy-to-use complete diet for culturing springtails. It provides carbohydrates, trace minerals and proteins that are essential to the growth and production of springtails. Its powder form allows for maximum springtail production.

Sprinkle a few shakes of Josh's Frogs Spring To Life Springtail Food on the surface of your springtail culture every week.

3. Josh's Frogs 32 oz. Temperate Springtail Culture

Springtails are tiny arthropods (1-4 mm) and make a great supplemental food for your poison dart frogs. When you seed your tanks with springtails, they will reproduce in your terrarium, eating mold/fungus. Simply dump the entire springtail culture in your terrarium and mix the charcoal in the culture right into your substrate. Or if you'd only like to add some of them, you can add water to the container to float the springtails to the top, and simply pour them and the excess water into your enclosure.

4. Josh's Frogs Charcoal - 4 quarts

Charcoal is the ideal substrate for culturing springtails. This high-quality horticultural charcoal offered by Josh's Frogs provides plenty of surface area that springtails need to reproduce and thrive. Charcoal also reduces odors and makes harvesting springtails simple and easy.

Each 4 quart bag is the perfect amount to start a shoe box sized springtail culture. Charcoal can also be used as a substrate additive to increase drainage and aeration. Maintain a 1-2 inch level of water at the bottom.

5. Josh's Frogs 6 quart Culture Container

Ideally suited for use as a springtail culture, the 6 quart Culture Container is perfect for starting your own master springtail culture. Simply add charcoal, water, and springtails, and you're good to go!

I like that Josh's Frogs gives you the ability to edit what is included in this kit. I already had a larger container I wanted to utilize so I really appreciate that i could remove the Tupperware container from my order. Ordered my Springtails on a Monday and received them on Wednesday
