Scientific Name: Gynura procumbens

Common Name(s): Sabuñgai, Sambung nyawa, Longevity Spinach, or Longevity Greens

Defining Characteristics:

  • Soft green leaves
  • Leaves & shoots are edible
  • Mild and clean flavor, described as earthy with a faint, sometimes peppery or slightly bitter note, especially in larger leaves
  • Not true spinach and has nowhere near the levels of oxalic acid that our domestic spinach does. They're safe and healthy for critters to eat in moderation!
  • Grows as a ground cover
