How It Works:

In an enclosed environment, excess water has nowhere to go. Without a drainage layer, water pools in the soil, suffocating roots and encouraging harmful anaerobic bacteria. Our Drainage Layer creates a dedicated reservoir underneath your substrate, allowing water to pass through safely while maintaining the high humidity your tropical plants require.

How to Use:

1. The Base: Pour Josh's Frogs Drainage Layer into your clean enclosure to a depth of 1/2 to 1 inch.
2. The Barrier: Place Josh's Frogs Substrate Barrier (sold separately) directly on top of the stones. This prevents your soil from falling into the reservoir.
3. The Soil: Add your favorite plant soil or bioactive substrate, such as ABG Mix or BioBedding, on top of the barrier.
4. The Water: If you see water accumulating in the drainage layer, it’s working! Just ensure the water level stays below the substrate barrier to keep your soil fresh.

Usage Guide:

• 1 cup will create a 1-inch deep layer in a 5-inch wide container.
• This 4-quart bag is ideal for small to medium terrariums, nano-tanks, and tabletop glass gardens.
