About This Product

Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens) larvae are a great feeder for a wide variety of reptiles, amphibians, birds, and invertebrates. High in calcium, black soldier fly larvae are also known in the trade as Phoenix Worms, ReptiWorms, and CalciWorms. Each container of extra small black soldier fly larvae (50 count) will contain at least 50 soldier fly larvae ready to feed out as soon as they arrive. Extra small black soldier fly larvae measure approximately 1/8 inch, and make perfect feeders for animals that like small food, such as dart frogs.

How to Feed: Feed soldier fly larvae with tongs or in a dish. Be careful not to allow soldier fly larvae to escape the dish—the larvae will burrow and pupate. After they pupate, the larvae emerge as adult black soldier flies, which resemble small wasps. Even though they look intimidating, black soldier flies are harmless.

Once the worms begin to pupate (if they're not eaten), they'll turn black. At this stage, the larvae contain a LOT of calcium, and should be quickly fed to your pets.

How to Store: Soldier fly larvae can be kept at room temperature, but keeping them at 55-65°F will keep them in the larval stage much longer. Remember, black soldier fly larvae can still be fed out after they pupate. Adult flies can also be fed out—chameleons in particular seem to love these!

Tons!

So many in the tiny little cup! I got these for my juvenile mourning geckos. I haven't visually seen them eating these yet, but they are good hunters and the larvae always disappear. I use an escape proof worm bowl.

Alexa

great feeder

i use the extra small ones for my baby chameleon since she’s too small for most feeders. but the larger ones are great for my leopard geckos, adult chameleon, and different skink species. when they turn into flies my adult chameleon goes nuts!

Eleese

Black fly larvae

They are good for chameleons and my chameleon loves them. This is my first time buying these from this website but I know they will be good because my previous purchases were perfect.

Amanda

Great fly larvae

Very happy with these

Great product, quick shipping

These extra small Phoenix worms were awesome for our newly emerged American Toadlets. They all arrived alive and quickly and survived until we'd gotten them all fed off. They were especially good for the little toads that were slower to catch on to tracking down the fruit flies until they got the hang of hunting.
