Important Note About New Caledonian Species

Based on our own experiences, we do not recommend ProHatch for direct substrate incubation of New Caledonian species. This is because they shed and then eat their shed immediately after hatching. ProHatch tends to stick to the shed, which poses a significant choking hazard. However, this hazard can be avoided by using an egg tray to suspend eggs above the ProHatch and prevent it from coming into direct contact with hatchlings. Our keepers have safely hatched New Caledonian species on ProHatch using this method.
