Care Notes: Water with only distilled, rain, or reverse osmosis water. Use the tray method, where the pot sits in a saucer of water, and keep the substrate consistently moist. In winter, reduce the water level, keeping the soil damp but not sitting in as much standing water. This plant requires a 3–5 month rest period with cooler temperature. During winter, reduce humidity and water, keeping the plant in cooler, roughly 32-55°F conditions.

Each trap only opens and closes a few times before it will die off and grow a new one.  For this reason, it is important to not “false trigger” the traps and make them shut for no reason, as it will only stress out the plant with no benefit. It is also important to never fertilize a Venus Fly Trap, as that would be fatal to the plant. These plants are not suggested for animal terrariums.
