Features:

• Nitrate develops when nitrite is broken down in the final stages of the nitrogen cycle.
• While levels up to 100ppm are generally not lethal, high levels of Nitrate can lead to algae growth; poor fish growth; fish stress; and in general must be avoided.
• Average nitrate levels should be maintained below 10 ppm in freshwater and less than 5 ppm in marine aquariums.
• Test weekly.

Why is the color of the solution not changing the way it’s supposed to?

Make sure you shake each of the reagents properly before using them, as they will otherwise not work properly.

I have noticed that the nitrite and nitrate test kits share the same first two reagents, is this normal?

Yes, the nitrate test kit uses the same first two reagents as the nitrite test kit. The third nitrate reagent further reduces the test sample to derive a nitrate reading.

How full should the test tube be?

The bottom of the meniscus should be at the fill line.
