About This Product

Josh's Frogs Coco Brick is created from finely ground coconut husk, sometimes called coco fiber, coconut fiber, or simply coco. Each 8 quart Coco Brick weighs 650g or 1.43 lbs., and will expand when soaked in dechlorinated water. Coco fiber is absorbent, easy to clean and facilitates burrowing. Clean, comfortable, and competitively priced!

Josh's Frogs Coconut Beddings and Substrates are direct from a family owned production facility in Sri Lanka. All of the coconut bedding with the Josh's Frogs label on it is organically grown, 100% biodegradable, and environmentally friendly. Josh's Frogs Coconut Substrates are 100% safe for your plants and pets!

How to Prep: Soak for 15-30 minutes, or until coco fiber is expanded and there are no dry spots remaining. Each Coco Brick will expand to 4-6 times its original volume, based on the amount of water used. Josh's Frogs Dechlorinator Tap Water Conditioner will make your tap water safe. Only soak what you plan to use, do not store wet.

Recommended Animals: Coconut fiber is perfect for a wide range of lizards, snakes, tortoises, salamanders, frogs and other reptiles and amphibians that require moderate to high humidity. Coco Fiber is ideal for spiders, scorpions, tarantulas, millipedes, and other invertebrates as well!

Coconut fiber can retain 8-9 times its weight in water. In addition to water, coconut fiber does a great job absorbing nutrients, aerating soil, and promoting healthy root growth.

Suitable for Misted Setups: No.

Care: Coco Fiber can dry out, so monitor your humidity levels and mist as needed. Spot clean as you see messes. Completely change out every 6 months to a year, or as you feel is needed.

Great deal!

Reviewed on April 3, 2026.

These Coco Cradle Bricks are really nice! The bricks expand really fast and provide a good amount of bedding for their price. Once expanded, the bedding is fluffy and holds moisture well. The bedding looks great in terrarium's and tanks, and are a must-have that I will definitely buy again!

Perfect for hermit crab molt camp

Reviewed on October 16, 2024.

Love this coconut soil for my hermit crab! It dissolves into soft, shapeable substrate that facilitates tunneling during molting season. Keeps moisture and resists mildew for up to 3 months before needing to be replaced. Please please please don’t change the consistency! We used to buy the commercial stuff which isn’t even pure coconut fiber anymore and it’s so coarse it is only good for rodent bedding. Not even suitable for reptiles. Thank you Josh for supplying this top quality coconut soil!👍
