| Heat Producing Lighting is an important aspect to keeping reptiles in captivity. Reptiles are ectothermic (aka cold-blooded), which means they are dependent on their environment for their heating and cooling needs. A basking spot, an area of elevated temperature in your pet’s enclosure, will allow the reptile to raise it’s body temperature, which facilitates digestion and activity levels.
