This is Who We Are

Josh Willard founded our company in 2004 with a simple solution to the challenge of keeping his own dart frogs. Since then we've built a business out of making exotic pet care easier, and along the way we've assembled an eclectic team of hobbyists, horticulturalists, zoologists and former zoo keepers. We have diverse backgrounds, unusual interests, and none of us quite fit the "typical" mold, but we're all united by a profound passion that drives us to be more than just a "typical" business. We're on a mission to connect people with nature.

Why is our mission so important? Perhaps you can still remember childhood summers spent outdoors, hunting for frogs and snakes, running wild and learning the value of nature without trying. Those experiences have a profound impact on us, but they're getting harder to come by. Our modern lives are growing more distant from nature, and more ignorant of its peril. If the natural world is to last for future generations, we must find new ways to fit it into our lives. Fortunately, we all have the space for it.

This is what we believe: when you bring a living thing into your home, you accept the responsibility for its survival. Every mistake becomes a lesson in its vulnerability, every success a reminder of its beauty. As your creature grows, so too will your sense of responsibility, until you finally come to understand what's really at stake. Your pet is an ambassador of the natural world, fighting to survive just outside your door. The whole world is a vivarium, and we are its keepers. That's what connecting with nature is all about.

Whether you're interested in frogs, toads, salamanders, snakes, geckos, lizards, turtles, insects, spiders, fish, crustaceans, plants, or any other living thing, we're here to support and nurture your interest, because it truly means the world to us. We offer products, resources and knowledge that make it easy and downright fun to keep a little piece of nature in your home, office or classroom. So check out our website for all we have to offer, and let's bring some nature into your life.
